Endometriosis, sometimes called ”endo” is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places.
Endometriosis can affect womxn of any age. It’s a long-term condition that can have significant impact on your life. There are many symptoms that people with endometriosis might experience, but the most common one is severe pain that might make it hard for you to live a normal life.
It is believed that 1 in 10 womxn suffer from the condition. However it is hard to pinpoint exactly how many womxn are affected by it, as many are unaware that they have it.
Through this project I have reached out to other womxn with endometriosis and asked them about their experience of living with endo. I have taken portrait pictures of the womxn to put faces to the condition, these pictures are also supported by visualisations of how I experience endo myself.
I believe that there is a big lack of knowledge about the condition, so with this project I hope to raise awareness of endometriosis and how womxn around the world struggle with this condition both physically and mentally. This condition affects so many womxn globally, and still we barely know anything about it. How can this be okay?
